Detailed description of Alfred Tup Holmes
Alfred "Tup" Holmes Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Atlanta, Georgia.
The course first opened for play in 1940.
Alfred "Tup" Holmes is a historical golf site with rolling hills and many elevation changes. The site of a Civil War battlefield, the course is named after the civil rights pioneer who paved the way to desegregating Atlanta’s public golf courses in the 1950s.
The course was renovated in 2006 and new Champion Bermuda greens were installed on all 18 holes. The course renovation was designed by Garrett Gill & George B. Williams.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6159 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5185 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 482 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 147 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 1, a 400 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 18, a 328 yard par-4.
The par-3 ninth is the signature hole, a 200-yard carry to an elevated green.

Full name of course is Alfred Tup Holmes, one of the Atlanta city course that includes North Fulton, Bobby Jones & Browns Mill. Greens are in very good shape, much improved over last year. Fairways well maintained but beginning to show drought stress. No driving range but putting & chipping greens available. Modest size parking lot. $35 Friday afternoon rate w/ cart. I prefer this course to Bobby Jones as there are fewer people and course is not so compressed.
